Welcome to Sam Houston Area Council

The Sam Houston Area Council serves approximately 28,000 youth in 16 counties in Southeast Texas through dedicated service and leadership of approximately 10,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those that believe in its mission.

Summer Camp

During summer camp, memories created at camp last a lifetime, whether Scouts are participating in the popular first-year camper program, earning merit badges, or embarking on high-adventure experiences.

Space U

Space U Odyssey is a five-day, hands-on STEM experience inspired by real NASA missions that puts students in the role of NASA scientists, engineers, and astronauts. June 28-July 3 or July 12-17, 2026

Trail to Eagle Scout Camp

Trail to Eagle Scout Camp is an opportunity for Scouts in troops to earn Eagle Scout-required merit badges along their advancement trail. July 5-8, 2026

Super Troop

Super Troop is a temporary troop of Scouts from around the council and is an opportunity for individual Scouts who can't attend camp with their troop to attend summer camp and/or attend an extra week of camp. July 5-11, 2026

Jamboree

The National Jamboree is Scouting’s flagship event for Scouts aged 12 and older, showcasing everything great about Scouting in America. July 22-31, 2026

Silver Beaver Award Nominations

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a local council can bestow on a volunteer. Nominate Scouters who have served youth above and beyond the call of duty. Nominations are due August 1, 2026.

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is a weekend campout at Bovay Scout Ranch for Cub Scouts and their families. Scouts can participate in an exciting variety of activities at several program areas and STEM-based activities.

Camperships

The council is dedicated to ensuring all Scouts can attend camp. Camperships aid aims to make it possible for deserving Scouts to attend camping programs who would otherwise be unable to meet the fee requirements.
